Our trip cancellation coverage can’t cover absolutely everything. We can only pay you back if you need to cancel your vacation because of an event that is eligible for coverage.
So, what does our travel insurance cover for trip cancellation? The best way to check all the eligible reasons is to read the description of coverage for your chosen plan. You can access the description of coverage either by getting a quote online, or if you’ve already bought a policy, you’ll find it in your confirmation of coverage email.
It’s important to know that for coverage to apply, the reason for your trip cancellation must:
- Be outside of your control or the control of your family member, traveling companion, or business partner.
- Prevent you, the person traveling with you, or your business partner from taking the trip.
- Occur while your coverage is active and be one of the unexpected events listed in your policy.
Good to know: If you cancel your trip because of an unexpected illness or injury, you must get an exam and letter from a doctor noting that you’re unable to travel, or that your nontraveling family member is in a life-threatening condition and needs your care.
